The Town of Cochrane has been granted $950,000 under the Superbuild Fund towards the construction of the Cochrane Event Centre, which will include an arena, swimming pool and meeting room. A further funding announcement is expected later this year to bring the funding total to $1.4 million. The money from the government will make up 40 per cent of the total cost of building the complex. In March the town received more than $660,000 in government funding to help create 29 construction jobs for the Cochrane Polar Bear Conservation and Educational Habitat and Heritage Village
