A Cambridge-based operator of long-term care homes is acquiring three properties in Thunder Bay.

Southbridge Health Care LP and Yorkville Long Term Health Care Fund announced March 8 of its expansion to Northern Ontario by picking up Lakehead Manor, Pinewood Court and Roseview Manor from Rivera Inc., a provider of seniors’ accommodations.

Finalizing the acquisition should take several months as all transfers of long-term care bed licences are reviewed by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

“We are working very closely with Revera to ensure a smooth transition without any interruption in services or capacity,” said Keith McIntosh, Southbridge president-CEO, in a news release.

“This acquisition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing safe, caring and secure senior living environments in Ontario. We look forward to working with the dedicated teams of employees already established in these homes to continue delivering excellence in care and services.”

Southbridge operates 24 long-term care and retirement communities in Ontario.

If the acquisition is approved, Southbridge will become the province’s fifth largest operator.
