A planning committee brought about by the Women’s Business Network is looking for business ideas to help improve the tourism industry in Kenora.
While a lot of people come through the area, the city is not really viewed as a destination, a committee member says. For starters, they want to change the complexion of the tourist industry by establishing a long pier/wharf. The location of the wharf would be either on the Second Street dock or the Matheson Street dock.
Other ideas are to gentrify the second floor of the Main Street buildings in Kenora. Prime space would then be established for art galleries, boutiques and bistros with walk-out patios. They are hoping to attract ambitious entrepreneurs with business opportunities. The women’s group has received a lot of support for the ideas and welcomes any further input.
