Falconbridge plans extended mine shutdown (5/02)
Falconbridge Ltd. is planning an extended summer shutdown of its Sudbury smelter from June 18 to Aug. 8. Company officials say the 52-day maintenance and vacation shutdown is to ensure its facility runs at 100 per cent peak annual efficiency.

Death of miner under investigation (5/02)
A highly toxic gas may have caused the death of an Inco Ltd. employee while he was working at the Copper Cliff nickel refinery two months ago. A 50 year-old man died suddenly on March 25 after his last shift at the refinery.
