Sage Executive Suites are filling a niche market in Sudbury for upscale accommodations.

Noella Cliche, owner and 30-year resident of Sudbury, opened the newly renovated luxury suites in March 2008.

An 85-per-cent occupancy rate since it opened is proof the demand is there.

Geared for short and long-term stays, Cliche is focusing on professionals and executives who view the suites as their home away from home and prefer an alternative to hotel accommodations.

The complex is centrally located at 11 Elgin St. in Sudbury’s downtown core, close to shopping, banking, gym facilities, grocery stores and restaurants.

Its website provides interior pictures and a floor plan of each suite, complete with room dimensions, so

the prospective tenant is well informed.

Passing by its sage-green façade garners a second look.

The two-storey, 5,000-squarefoot building has been completely renovated to reflect the classic style often seen in a 100-year-old building.

Inside is a professional office, two one bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites.

Professionally designed interiors boast quality-engineered wooden floors with accent flooring and five-and-a-half-inch baseboards and casing. Tastefully decorated, the suites are completely furnished with

separate living rooms and bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and baths.

Window treatment throughout shows attention to detail, enhancing its elegant atmosphere.

There is free on-site parking, 24/7 security, private mailbox and key, pre-wired cable, telephone, and high-speed Internet outlets in each room.

The suites are all inclusive and the prices vary depending upon the number of occupants and length of stay.

The two-bedroom suites also offer ensuite laundry facilities.

“The value for our guests is that they obtain full condo-like housing at lower rates than our competition,” said Cliche, adding that on average, guests stay for three to six months.

“The majority of our guests are amazed that such accommodations are available to them in Sudbury.”

In its history, the century-old building has housed a doctor’s office, restaurant, bicycle shop and locksmith.

When Cliche purchased the building in 2006, it had been converted into several apartments and a

flea market.

“The building was in dire need of renovation,” she said. “My original intention was to upgrade the existing apartments, but as with any renovation, one thing led to another and the building was completely remodelled from the inside out.”

Cliche started slowly by renting out the one-bedroom suite first to test the waters.

Much to her surprise, there was immediate interest.

Shortly thereafter, she secured a one-year lease for two other suites.

Upon further research, Cliche decided to use the whole building to provide upscale, executive accommodations.

The name “sage” was inspired by the sacred herb, revered among indigenous North American peoples. It is used in smudging ceremonies for cleansing and bringing positive influence into a space.

As Cliche continues to offer this hidden gem, satisfied guests, friends and local acquaintances help promote the business.
