It is an Internet connected world and the e-Sudbury.com SmartWorx steering committee has a seminar for business and community members who want to learn how to take advantage of its opportunities.

November 12, 13 and 14, e-Sudbury.com and the SmartWorx program will be hosting the SmartWorx 2003 Technology Conference and Web Awards at the Ramada Inn in downtown Sudbury.

The event starts with an awards presentation the evening of Nov. 12, recognizing business Web sites.

“(The awards) are intended to recognize and celebrate innovative Web site development in the city,” says e-Sudbury.com project manager Jody Cameron. “We have B-to-B sites, B-to-C sites, educational sites - these are some of the categories we’re going to be recognizing.”

There will also be workshops conducted by Microsoft and an exhibit area where people can see the latest technology applications and opportunities for business.

“With the workshops, we’ve targeted them to provide businesses with tools and applications that will help them in their day-to-day business and productivity,” says Cameron. “The structure will have a presenter bringing in a customer of theirs or a client who is using this technology as a way to offer a testimonial, to support the workshop. Each of the workshops will be linked to the exhibitions so people will have a good idea of how this technology can be used and then, for more information, here are the vendors who you can talk to.”
