Report on convention centre proposal to be made public this fall (6/02)

A comprehensive report on a proposal to develop a convention centre in downtown Sudbury will be made public this fall.

A comprehensive report on a proposal to develop a convention centre in downtown Sudbury will be made public this fall. Initial plans called for the report to be made public in June, but Vista Hospitality, the new owners of the City Centre mall need the extra time to focus on renovation efforts currently underway, says an official with the City of Greater Sudbury. The delay should further allow other convention centre proponents to come forward with their proposals and allow time for further discussions with external funding agencies.

The city still needs to confirm whether there may be additional partners interested in the convention centre proposal.
