Mining health and safety conference set for Sudbury this April

Sudbury will play host to the 20th annual Mining Health and Safety Conference April 17-19.

The annual event, an initiative of Workplace Safety North, features a tradeshow, panel discussions and keynote speakers from health and safety experts in the industry.

Some of the key topics will include occupational disease action plans, radon management through a mine’s lifecycle, mental health, gender diversity and marijuana in the workplace.

This year’s speakers include:

  • Michelle Ray, international business keynote speaker, author and entrepreneur;
  • Jody Kuzenko, director of business strategy at Vale’s Ontario operations;
  • Brett Webb, culture and organizational development specialist with Workplace Safety North;
  • Jim Lees, intergenerational wellness specialist; and
  • Corrie Pitzer, behavioural and strategic safety specialist.

More than 30 vendors are expected to be on hand for the tradeshow on April 18, and the Mobile Research Lab from the Centre for Research in Occupational Safety and Health (CROSH) will be on site for tours and demonstrations.

A free livestream of keynote speakers will be available from April 18-19.
