The Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association (SAMSSA) has announced WipWare president Tom Palangio will be inducted into the SAMSSA Hall of Fame during the organization’s 2017 annual general meeting and awards recognition ceremony.

Palangio is the longest standing member of SAMSSA’s board of directors and is currently serving as president. He has additionally served as chair of the Northern Gateway Branch of the CIM; director with the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce; board chair at Canadore College; and board vice-chair at Nipissing University. After six years of exceptional leadership, Palangio just recently stepped down as board chair at NORCAT.

Based in North Bay, WipWare designs and manufactures fragmentation analysis software and hardware systems for the mining industry.

In addition, a special recognition award will be bestowed on Norm Tollinsky, editor of the Sudbury Mining Solutions Journal (a sister publication of Northern Ontario Business), for his “contributions as a journalist and supporter of SAMSSA companies.”

It is the first award presented to an editor of a major global news magazine by SAMSSA.

This year’s guest speaker will be Tony Makuch, president and CEO at Kirkland Lake Gold. Makuch has more than 35 years of management, operations and technical experience in the mining industry, having managed numerous projects in Canada and the United States from advanced exploration through production.

The SAMSSA AGM will be held Monday, Dec. 4 at Dynamic Earth in Sudbury.
