FedNor is providing funding of $200,000 to the Town of Thessalon for expansion of its waste-water lagoon and sewer system.

The Town of Thessalon plans to establish a new industrial park and facilitate business expansion and new housing development.

To carry out these initiatives, the town must increase its waste-water lagoon capacity.

The project involves designing and completing a lagoon expansion in two phases. Phase one will include the excavation of rock from the existing east lagoon cell to increase capacity and relocation of the service roadway between the cells.

Phase two will take place in the future to expand the western lagoon cell.

"The community development project will create new opportunities for local employment and improve the services the town offers to local residents," says Brent St. Denis, Algoma-Manitoulin MP.

FedNor will assist with the cost of project administration and inspection, the design and tender process, rock excavation, rock seal allowance and road relocation.
