Sault Ste. Marie-based Village Media continues to expand its network of media outlets across Ontario with the launch of independent news site BradfordToday.ca.

Launched April 30, BradfordToday.ca will bring locally driven news in real time to Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Joining the Village Media news team in Bradford are long-time area journalists Jenni Dunning and Miriam King, joined by freelance contributors including Patrick Bales.

BradfordToday.ca will be served by account executive Gary Assis, under the leadership of regional publisher John Hammill.

BradfordToday.ca joins CollingwoodToday.ca, OrilliaMatters.com and BarrieToday.com as part of a growing Simcoe County presence. The news team also includes regional editor Dave Dawson in Orillia, reporter Raymond Bowe in Barrie, regional reporter Nathan Taylor and reporter Erika Engel in Collingwood.

Designed to be fast and easy to use whether you're on mobile, desktop or tablet, the site will provide breaking news, feature stories, obituaries, and other content from the region. The most current local news will be posted throughout the day, with national news provided by the Canadian Press.

BradfordToday is part of the Village Media network, which operates some of the largest online news sites in the communities it serves. The sites are driven by news and information that appeals to a highly engaged, loyal audience.

“We believe that local news is essential to communities.  BradfordToday is now the ninth Village Media owned site, and the fifteenth site running local news on our platform,” said Jeff Elgie, CEO of Village Media, in a release.

“We are proud to be extremely community-minded and cover important stories in your town. We have a great team in place and look forward to becoming an integrated part of the community’s daily news."

Village Media, which has a growing media presence across the region, includes the news sites SooToday.com, GuelphToday.com, BarrieToday.com, BayToday.ca, ElliotLakeToday.com, TimminsToday.com, OrilliaMatters.com, CollingwoodToday.ca, and has strategic partnerships with Sudbury.com in Sudbury (a sister publication of Northern Ontario Business), TBNewswatch.com in Thunder Bay, the Manitoulin Expositor (manitoulin.ca), Rogers Media in Halifax (HalifaxToday.ca) and Ottawa (OttawaMatters.com) and Glacier Media in British Columbia (KamloopsMatters.com).
