Registration is now open for the third annual State of the North conference, hosted by the Northern Policy Institute.

The 2019 event will be held in Sault Ste. Marie Sept. 25-26. This year’s theme is “Future North.”

Annually, the conference brings together decision-makers, community leaders, experts and innovators to explore the state of Northern Ontario from economic, social, and environmental perspectives.

Northern Policy Institute provides an annual update on the state of the North by offering updates on a set of environmental, social and economic indicators that are defined and selected in partnership with Northern communities.

The conference will explore how Northern leaders from across the province, economic experts and Northern communities can come together to find ways to grow and strengthen Northern communities.

A detailed agenda for the conference will be forthcoming.

Past conferences have been held in North Bay (2018) and Timmins (2017).

Northern Policy Institute is Northern Ontario’s independent think tank. It performs research, collects and disseminates evidence, and identifies policy opportunities to support the growth of sustainable Northern communities.
