Communities in the Sault Ste. Marie region have received a $9-million windfall from the province to put towards municipal infrastructure.

Funds come from the $90-million Municipal Infrastructure Strategy, which is meting out money over the next three years to help municipalities across the province build and maintain key infrastructure. Most of the funds are being provided to communities with populations of less than 20,000.

Projects include replacing culverts and bridges, resurfacing roads, and upgrading water distribution systems.
