The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre is accepting submissions for its 12th annual SSMARt Innovation Awards.

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre is soliciting submissions for its 12th annual SSMARt Innovation Awards.

The annual celebration recognizes eight companies and/or individuals from the Algoma District making innovative contributions in the science, technology or agriculture sectors. This year’s awards luncheon will take place on Nov. 15 in downtown Sault Ste. Marie.

This year awards are being given out in eight categories: 

  • Steve Butland Educator of the Year
  • Innovation Project of the Year
  • Innovation Youth Startup of the Year
  • Innovation Startup of the Year (new)
  • Innovation Company of the Year
  • Innovation in Social Entrepreneurship
  • Innovation in Digital Design
  • Innovation Leader of the Year

A panel of professionals working in the fields of science, business, and information technology, or advocates of these sectors, will judge the entries.

Companies, groups and projects can be nominated until Oct. 17. More information is available at www.ssmic.com/awards.
