Sault Ste. Marie will host the inaugural Eat Algoma food festival this weekend.

The Saturday event is part of an emerging awareness about supporting local food producers in the area. It will be hosted by the Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN), a joint initiative of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) and the NORDIK Institute.

The festival will include food vendors, children’s activities, live music, a pop-up patio and the Restaurant Food Challenge Competition, in which local farms and restaurants will vie for the title of having the best pulled pork slider.

Eat Algoma is part of a continuing trend in the Sault Ste. Marie area to boost agriculture and promote the production and consumption of local food products.
