Three projects in Sault Ste. Marie are the recipients of more than $1.3 million in provincial funding.

Northern Development Minister Michael Gravelle was in the Sault on March 23 to announce $1,374,300 for projects in the areas of technology, agriculture and mining.

The biggest piece of funding – $1 million – goes to Createch Group, whose new Sault Ste. Marie centre provides service and development supporting Microsoft Business Services (MBS) products, including Dynamics 365 Business Central. The centre is expected to create 30 jobs.

In addition, Alert Technologies is receiving $250,000 to develop a monitoring system that will be used in the mining industry to detect a loss of rock bolt load tension and bolt overloading that will improve safety and reduce costs.

Finally, the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre is receiving $124,300 to implement a micro-grant program to help Northern farms and food producers purchase equipment that will enhance their productivity and improve their environmental performance with projects such as composting, waste management, and irrigation.
