Revitalization projects on the horizon in Sault

Three Sault Ste. Marie revitalization projects will receive funding from the province totalling $4.5 million.

Three Sault Ste. Marie revitalization projects will receive funding from the province totalling $4.5 million. Funding comes from the Rural Economic Development (RED) program, which assists rural Ontario communities with projects associated with infrastructure, health care, education and economic growth.

Algoma University will receive $99,066 for its Community Portrait and Community Resilience Projects; the Sault Ste. Marie Community Development Corp. will receive $150,000 for its economic diversification and revitalization project; and the City of Sault Ste. Marie will receive $570,000 for its Downtown Revitalization Project.

Eligible applicants for RED funding include municipalities; not-for-profit organizations; industry, economic development and regionally focused associations; businesses and corporations; First Nations, Métis, and Inuit; as well as broader public sector organizations.
