A new restaurant is opening at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport.

Shabby Motley Café, which runs a location in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, took over operation of the airport restaurant on Feb. 1.

The restaurant will run Sundays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new menu will include hot and cold food items and beverages. The dining facility will eventually be fully licensed.

“The SSMADC (Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corp.) looks forward to having a new airport family member and a return to expanded hours of operation for food and beverage services at the airport,” said Terry Bos, president and CEO of the SSMADC, in a news release.

“Customers have been asking for better hours of service and we feel that Shabby Motley Café is meeting this need.”

Café owner Ashleigh Sauvé said she was grateful for the opportunity to expand the business to the airport location.

“We have been working hard to update the space, to provide the same warm and welcoming atmosphere as our downtown café,” she said.

Sauvé said the menu includes daily soups, sandwiches, and comfort food, as well as fresh scones, croissants, squares and cookies. Vegan and gluten-free options are also available.

Future plans include introducing a full barista menu, including espressos and lattés, and handcrafted items available for purchase.
