McDougall Energy has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the sixth consecutive year.

The designation comes from a program initiated by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums.

“It is much more than just financial performance,” said Lorrie King, a partner at Deloitte and co-leader of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program.

“The ingredients to success also include overall business performance and sustained growth. It takes dedication and commitment from an entire organization.”

McDougall Energy was first named to the list in 2011. The company is in its third generation of family ownership, and has grown to become one of the largest integrated distributors of Esso and Mobil products in Canada. The 72-year-old energy company operates in various regions across Canada serving business, residential and retail customers.

Company president Darren McDougall thanked the judges, coaches and sponsors for being selected.

“Since first being recognized in 2011, we have not forgotten the value and prestige that comes with being united under such a unique distinction,” McDougall said in a release.

“We are driven to maintain a high level of business excellence while continuing to care for the communities we serve. Each of our loyal customers, dedicated employees, family members and critical partners has contributed to our growth. This designation belongs to all of them.”

The 2017 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award will be honoured at the annual Canada’s Best Managed Companies gala in Toronto on April 19.
