Job hunt for new Marathon CAO continues (9/02)

The Town of Marathon is sifting through more than 40 applications to secure a new chief administrator. The town launched a national search during the summer to find a replacement for Ian McQuarrie who died after a serious illness.

The Town of Marathon is sifting through more than 40 applications to secure a new chief administrator.

The town launched a national search during the summer to find a replacement for Ian McQuarrie who died after a serious illness.

Thus far the town has advertised in newspapers in Toronto, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and all of the major Northern Ontario dailies.

The municipality is prepared to pay the successful candidate $85,000 in annual salary.

Ken Taniwa, who was hired as interim CAO, has had his contract extended to late September to sort through the applications.

There is no timetable when a new CAO will be announced.
