Finding ways to improve air service to the Superior East region is the aim of a $20,000 contribution by FedNor to hire a consultant to study the air industry in rural and remote communities.

The Superior East Community Development Corporation - representing Chapleau, Dubreuilville, Wawa and White River - will examine market trends, review comparable markets, identify potential revenue sources and what support mechanisms are available. Communities in the region are petitioning for criteria changes in the federal government's airport capital assistance program to include smaller communities that are reliant on airports for medical services and economic development opportunities.
