A group of private investors intend to capitalize on the spectacular vistas of Lake Superior Provincial Park, north of Sault Ste. Marie, with plans for a hotel and condominium resort.

According to published reports, an unnamed investors group has preliminary plans for the construction of two 10-storey buildings overlooking Agawa Bay about 140 kilometres north of the Sault. The rest of the privately financed development calls for log buildings, a water bottling plant, a distributor for a log home builder, an Aboriginal visitors centre, trading post, service centre and general store. Other phased developments are planned for nearby Pancake Bay and Montreal River Harbour. Labonte Township, the site of this development, has no local authority to issue permits, but all structures must adhere to Ontario Building Code specifications and regulations of the ministries of natural resources and environment.
