On Sept. 10, local and area stakeholders and the public will participate in an Ontario Ministry of Energy Long-Term Energy Plan consultation in Sault Ste. Marie on a variety of topics, including the province's mix of energy sources such as wind, solar and nuclear, and conservation.
“These consultations will provide the Ministry of Energy with an opportunity to receive feedback from members of our community on energy initiatives in the province,” Sault MPP David Orazietti said in a news release. "We have made remarkable progress locally in developing renewable energy capacity and I look forward to building on our progress."
Province-wide consultations began on July 10 and are running through to Sept. 10, allowing the general public, industry stakeholders, Aboriginal leaders, and municipal representatives to provide their advice on Ontario's long-term energy needs and how to meet them.
Other meetings scheduled for Northern communities include Sudbury, which took place on Aug. 13, and Kenora, which also takes place on Sept. 10.
The updated Long-Term Energy Plan will be released this fall.
