Northern Ontario companies seeking to enter the defence industry are encouraged to attend Northern Ontario’s Road to Defence (NORD) Conference next month.

An initiative of FedNor, the one-day event will take place in Sault Ste. Marie on March 12 at the Quattro Hotel and Conference Centre.

It serves as an opportunity for companies to pitch their products and services under the federal governments Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) policy.

Launched in 2014, the policy requires that companies that are awarded defence procurement contracts undertake business activity in Canada that is equal to the value of the contract. It applies to all eligible defence procurements with a value of more than $100 million.

Activities at the Sault event will include an innovation information forum, followed by presentations and business-to-business meetings. There will also be opportunities for networking throughout the day.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required.
