Women leaders recognized during Influential Women of Northern Ontario Awards

Seven women leaders from across northeastern Ontario were recognized during the 2018 Influential Women of Northern Ontario Awards luncheon on May 28 at the Steelworkers Hall in Sudbury.

The annual event – now in its 21st year – profiles and honours women in Northern Ontario who have made a difference in their communities, generating economic wealth, creating jobs and furthering growth.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners:

Executive of the Year: Tammy Morison, CEO, North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation (North Bay)

Entrepreneur of the Year: Nicole Guertin, co-owner, Les Suites des Presidents (Haileybury)

Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Alicia Pirie, owner, Chic Baby & Kids (Timmins)

Aboriginal Leadership: Dr. Jennifer Jocko, obstetrician-gynecologist, North Eastern Ontario Women’s Health Network (Sudbury)

Influential Community Trailblazer: Lise Armstrong, Genevra House Transitional and Housing Support Program (Sudbury)

Tradeswoman of the Year: Armanda Quinn, Miner 3, Goldcorp- Porcupine Gold Mines (Timmins)

Young Influential Woman Essay Scholarship: Kora Wilcox (Elliot Lake)

A second luncheon will be held this Thursday, May 31 to honour six winners from northwestern Ontario. The event will be held at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre in Thunder Bay.
