Province seeking nominees for annual ag excellence awards

Candidates have until Sept. 2 to submit applications to recognition program

Innovative individuals and organizations in the agriculture and agri-food sector still have some time to submit their bid to the 2025 Excellence in Agriculture Awards.

The provincial initiative annually recognizes the efforts of outstanding producers that demonstrate excellence in running their businesses, adopt innovative practices, and create a safe and stable supply of food.

In 2024, there were two recipients from Northern Ontario: Bujold Farms of Rainy River District, which won the Northern Business Excellence Award, and ELD Farms of Kenora, which won the Family Farm Excellence Award.

Eligible candidates include primary producers, processors, agriculture and food organizations, educational institutions, agriculture and food innovators, and Indigenous, Métis or Inuit-owned businesses or communities.

There are a number of categories available, including:

  • research and innovation excellence,
  • food processing excellence,
  • education excellence, 
  • promotional excellence,
  • supply chain excellence,
  • workforce excellence,
  • urban agriculture excellence,
  • northern business excellence,
  • indigenous, metis or inuit-owned business or community excellence,
  • women’s excellence,
  • youth excellence, and
  • farm family excellence.

To apply, candidates must complete the application form, along with supporting documentation.

Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 2, 2025.
