The Econo Lodge in New Liskeard has been awarded the 2017 Platinum Hospitality Award by Choice Hotels Canada.

Platinum recipients were chosen from among 320 properties across the country and represent the top three percent of Choice Canada’s portfolio.

To qualify for this award, properties must excel in a variety of categories including guest satisfaction and independent quality reviews.

“Our Platinum recipients represent properties that have provided a superior experience to guests at an outstanding value.” says Brian Leon, Managing Director, Choice Hotels Canada.

“These hotel owners and operators continue to drive excellence across all our hotel brands and we couldn’t be prouder of the work they have achieved.”

The property is part of the M & M Group of Companies, a family-owned business which owns and operates a stable of hotel properties in the Temiskaming Shores area.

Earlier this year, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in New Liskeard received the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) 2016 Torchbearer Award, considered the company's most prestigious award.

The hotel is one of 454 North American properties within the IHG system, known for achieving the highest levels of excellence in all aspects of operation: from quality to customer satisfaction.

A 2016 Torchbearer trophy, the company's symbol of top excellence, will be on permanent display at the hotel.

“We're enormously proud of these awards and of the hotels and our associates who have worked so hard to earn the honor and to earn the loyalty and satisfaction of their guests,” said Sean Mackey, general manager of the M & M Group of Companies, in a statement.

“It's fantastic, of course, to earn such prestigious honor in our own backyard, but it is especially gratifying that these awards are based on quality and customer satisfaction. For two Northern Ontario hotels to achieve such awards is true compliment to the staff and truly exemplifies Northern Hospitality at its best.”
