Municipal association includes Northern representation

Board members will serve a 2018-2020 term

The Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) elected a new board during its annual general meeting, and it includes several Northern Ontario representatives.

AMO is a non-partisan, non-profit association representing Ontario’s 444 municipalities, working together to achieve shared goals and meet common challenges.

The new board will serve a two-year term, from 2018 to 2020.

Northern Ontario’s representatives include: 

  • Lou Turco, councillor, City of Sault Ste. Marie: Large Urban Caucus
  • Wendy Landry, mayor, Municipality of Shuniah: chair, Northwest Caucus
  • Danny Whalen, councillor, City of Temiskaming Shores: chair, Northeast Caucus
  • Mac Bain, councillor, City of North Bay: Northern Caucus
  • Dave Canfield, mayor, City of Kenora: Northern Caucus
  • Doug Lawrance, mayor, Municipality of Sioux Lookout: Northern Caucus
  • Roger Sigouin, mayor, Town of Hearst: Northern Caucus
  • Bill Vrebosch, mayor, Municipality of East Ferris: Rural Caucus
  • Chris Wray, CAO/clerk-treasurer, Municipality of Wawa: Rural Caucus
  • Claude Bouffard, mayor, Municipality of French River: Association Française des municipalités de l’Ontario (AFMO)

AMO’s annual general meeting was held in Ottawa, Aug. 19-22.
