Social media network Hard Hat Hunter is teaming up with Canadore College in North Bay to become partners in education.

Hard Hat Hunter is a social network dedicated to the construction field. Members, who join free of charge, can peruse job offers, share site photos, network with others in the industry, and more.

Shawn Chorney, Canadore’s vice-president of enrolment management, indigenous and student services, said the partnership is a good fit for both parties.

“Canadore maintains a focus on entrepreneurship and the skilled trades, and most importantly, careers for our graduates,” he said in a release. “Hard Hat Hunter is a useful resource in the success tool kit that we provide our students.”

Hard Hat Hunter president Edgar Goulais said a goal of the social network is to encourage networking “for the purpose of connection, communication and collaboration.”

“We see our partnership with Canadore as a valuable asset not only to its students and Hard Hat Hunter members, but to the skilled trades and construction industry as a whole,” he said in the release.

“We feel that this partnership will bring students greater access to industry leaders and employers, thus enabling them to secure a strong future for their career in the skilled trades and construction industry. We are thrilled to align ourselves with Canadore College in the support of these sectors.”

A formal memorandum of understanding between the two parties will be signed on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
