Representatives from Ontario's aerospace sector landed in England earlier this week in search of European investment and networking opportunities.

Ontario Enterprise, Opportunity and Innovation Minister Jim Flaherty and associate minister David Turnbull joined a contingent of Ontario aerospace companies, including representatives from North Bay-based Canadore College and the Air Base Property Corp., along with other Ontario companies, in Farnborough, England on July 22.

"We need to increase awareness of Ontario as a preferred investment location for global aerospace companies," Flaherty says. "It's important that Ontario promote partnerships and direct investment from aerospace companies in the United Kingdom, France and other international markets."

Farnborough International 2002, a leading international air show, which represents a prime opportunity for aerospace firms to reach global markets, kicked off July 22 and runs until July 28.

Flaherty will hold meetings in France and Ireland to encourage investment and expand trade opportunities for Ontario firms in the automotive, pharma/biotechnology and aerospace sectors.
