Mitchell Associates Architects Inc. of North Bay has been selected as part of a consortium to build the Near North Correctional and Treatment Centre in that city. Construction of the $35-million facility begins next spring at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital site. The project, which will create 575 construction jobs, includes a 50-bed secure-treatment unit and a 192-bed pod for remanded inmates and short-term sentence inmates. Mill and Ross Architects Inc. of Kingston and URS Cole Sherman of Thornhill were also awarded a share of the contract.
