On the heels of a Sudbury political push for the four-laning of Highway 69, North Bay business leaders are lobbying for fast-tracking of the four-laning of Highway 11.

Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci has called on the province to earmark funding to four-lane Highway 69 to Parry Sound. The North Bay Chamber of Commerce has referred Bartolucci's request for support to their committee for its regular board meeting.

Timelines on the completion of several sections of Highway 11 remain up in the air. The Trout Creek bypass is expected to be completed this fall, and the stretch between Trout Creek and South River will be four-laned in 2004.

However, it is not known when plans will be completed for the road between South River to Burk's Falls and Katrine.
