North Bay's Air Base Property Corp. (ABPC) received a $900,000 grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund for infrastructure improvement and a new building lot.
ABPC and its tenants will contribute $2.4 million to upgrade the power grid and water and sewer systems, install fibre optics, erect perimeter fencing and market the site to draw more industry. ABPC is looking for small, offshore aircraft manufacturers who want to service the North American market from a North American location. Companies in Europe, Australia and South America are considering North Bay as an option, according to a spokesperson for ABPC. The project will create about 100 construction jobs and should be completed by the end of the summer.
