Foreign student cuts impacted colleges and universities in 2024

Foreign student cuts impacted colleges and universities in 2024

Colleges and Universities need to take a serious look at themselves and how they do business. Might be time to downsize etc. There is a serious lack of affordable housing for anyone, including students. If this keeps up, Canadians will have to move to another country to afford having a roof over their heads. There is a lack of available jobs in just about every industry. So what happens to any student after they graduate and have nowhere to go for employment? The world is changing and fast, we need to change as well or else.

It always amazes me to read a city official on how surprised they are by how many blow through a red light. Do you not drive in Sudbury? Not once in the last ten years that I can remember that I have not seen at least 1 to 5 vehicles blow through a red light, not once. Wait until they see how many speeders are out there lol While they are at it could they also include cameras that will catch slow moving vehicles, position jockeys and dim wit pedestrians crossing at a red light stopping all vehicles who have a green light from being able to go through. I have a few 100 other suggestions go with all of that.

I did such a terrible job with my comment. I have these thoughts in my head of what I want to say and completely bomb it when I put it down in writing (or electrons in this case :) ). What I was trying to say is, what does Dr. Steven Beites technology bring to the table that doesn't already exist? I know the method his robot(s) will use is different over how TAM is doing it. 3d printed houses exist now, Google Fibonacci 3d printed houses, World Housing have already 3d printed a few houses in B.C. that they are now using as Airbnb's. They are small and not cheap about $150,000 each to build, so maybe about the same cost of a "regular build". How would Dr. Steven Beites technology address this issue (among many more). If it costs just as much or more to 3d print a house then it will just be a fad. Again not doing the best job of expressing my thoughts but I hope I am doing well enough for a few to get the jist of what I am trying to say.

I've been building and using 3d printers from day one, the reprap days, had such a blast back then. There are already 3d printing technology being used to build houses. In B.C. World Housing has already built 3d printed houses using technology from TAM. They have built a few they are calling Fibonacci, yeah we really need to talk to them about names, those houses (I think it's 5 or 10 they built) are now being used to live in. World Housing is now preparing to 3d print two bedroom houses. Looking forward in the next few years to see how the technology mentioned in article will turn out and what it might contribute .

I think it is safe to make the prediction that gas prices will only go up in the foreseeable future. As a result electric vehicles are starting to look like a really good alternative. Only problem is the current state of hydro in Ontario and it's possible safe to say Canada cannot handle a large increase of electric vehicles, it can barely handle all the a/c units during a heat wave. And what would it cost to upgrade hydro to handle all of this, 100's of millions even billions of dollars ouch. Which of course then means increasing the cost of hydro. Then the governments will want their cuts so increase hydro even more. I have no idea what the solution is, I just know we are heading the wrong way. My head is spinning thinking of this. Maybe that's why Sudbury is so focused on expanding bike routes, we might all be biking in 10 years :)

I haven't been to 'Eat Me' yet, honestly until this article I did not know it existed. So it is on my list of places to try. There was a time in Sudbury when we had some pretty good chip stands/food trucks. But that has been changing last few years. Most of the places I used to enjoy a lot have changed their recipes and/or their ingredients and barely make the meh of tasty food. It's to the point where fast food restaurants like McDonad's etc. have tastier food then the local chips stands. So when I have the craving for a chip stand I find myself driving out of the city so that I can eat something that really is good food. So here's my list. In Espanola Happy Gilmore's. North Bay Potato Headz and Eagles Nest and of course Sturgeon Falls, RIV and Moniques. In my opinion there isn't a chip stand in Sudbury anymore that matches those.

I will make a prediction. The numbers will go down during the lock down. But they will rise again after. I am not a real psychic, so send me your bitcoins.

The Illuminati are not aliens, or stupid rich people but squirrels. The only reason we are not slaves to the squirrels is that they are still at war with cats. Prove me wrong :)

I could spend hours bashing the government's handling of this, days making fun of people who believe it's a hoax, those who seem to go out of their way to greatly increase their chances of exposure and many finding that if you ask for it enough you will get it. But what's the point. If some folks including government are not going to take this seriously and get serious about it then this will continue until maybe we are all vaccinated, maybe. I am frustrated with the whole situation as grey zone means no work for me, not that there was much to talk about since this all started. My industry has been hit hard by this whole situation and there is an all too real possibility that it will not recover. I am older so finding a new job is harder then I thought it would be, my qualifications, certificates and licenses are not worth much right and if the industry I am in cannot recover soon they won’t be worth the paper they are printed on. This scares me more then covid-19.

If you know where to look you can get cheaper gas outside of Sudbury, Eagles Nest in North Bay 115.? and Tim's Convenience in Sturgeons Falls was also 115.9. But traveling that far just to fuel up and returning kinda of defeats the savings. Personally the higher the price of gas goes, the more I start to find electric vehicles interesting.
