Ron Common will stay on as president of Sault College.

The college’s board of governors has voted unanimously to renew his contract until August 2023.

The college said since Common came aboard in 2007, he has overseen new campus construction, programming expansion and a boost in both domestic and international enrolment, which has boosted the institution’s profile and its place as a local economic driver.

“Dr. Common has been an outstanding leader for Sault College and the Board is very pleased with his commitment to making a difference in the education and lives of students,” said board chair David Zuccato in a July 3 news release.

“Dr. Common has a clear plan for aligning the college’s vision with educational priorities and initiatives and understands the complexities of balancing current and future needs with ministry and college priorities.”

“I’m very pleased that our board of governors has asked me to continue to lead the amazing team at Sault College,” said Common in a statement.

“It’s an exciting time for Sault College and I look forward to working with the college community, the ministry and the communities in which we serve to ensure students are prepared for the jobs of the future.”
