The Northeastern Ontario Construction Association (NOCA) is now accepting applications for bursaries aimed at helping women in northeastern Ontario continue their careers in the trades.

NOCA’s Women in Construction Committee is making available bursaries worth $2,000, which will go to deserving women in Northern Ontario who are enrolled in a construction trades program. In 2022, the committee awarded $4,000 in bursaries to two recipients.

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a trades program; they must be a resident of Northern Ontario; they must have their Ontario Secondary School Diploma; and they must be 18 years of age or older.

Applicants must fill out a short form, explaining their interest in, and passion for, the skilled trades. The deadline to apply is Dec. 1, 2023.

Formed in early 2022, NOCA’s Women in Construction Committee was created to provide support to other women in the construction sector.

Composed of volunteer members with a range of skills, the committee is committed to providing education and networking opportunities to raise the profile of women already working in the industry, while encouraging others in their pursuit of construction careers.
