Donald Champagne knows what keeps customers happy. Deliver what they want days and weeks ahead of the competition.
“We were doing products for the mining industry that the competition would be taking six to 10 weeks to deliver,” says Champagne, owner of North Bay Plastic Molders Ltd. “Customers would have to order half a year’s product ahead. With us, 98 per cent of the time, it’s shipped out the same day.”
North Bay Plastic Molders produces plastic caps for a variety of applications, including specialized shipping caps for pipes, thread protectors for protecting the threads of drilling pipes and end caps for explosives, and plastic electronics housings.
“We’ve got electronics manufacturers out of Chicago we produce things for on a frequent basis. What we do is ask for a purchase order for the long-term basis and they will order on an as-needed basis...they can call us on a Friday afternoon and have what they need on their dock Monday morning.”
