Village Media, a leader in local journalism, has acquired Oakville News.

Our Village has grown yet again.

Village Media, the company that owns Northern Ontario Business, has acquired Oakville News in a transaction announced today.

Oakville News will join 21 other thriving community journalism sites in Ontario under Village Media’s umbrella — including BurlingtonToday, HaltonHillsToday and the soon-to-be-launched FlamboroughToday — ensuring the long-term viability of the site as a critical resource in Oakville.

Oakville News was created with the goal of providing its hometown with independent journalism that helps strengthen the community, celebrate the achievements of residents and hold local government to account.

Village Media is excited to continue that mission by bolstering the site’s news coverage to deliver even more timely, accurate and reliable local headlines to the community.
