Four Sudbury entrepreneurs will compete for $15,000 in prize money during NORCAT’s 2022 Pitch event this May.

The event is slated to take place on May 12 at the Sudbury Theatre Centre in downtown Sudbury.

During the evening event, companies will pitch their business ideas to a panel of angel investors, which will then select the Judges’ Choice Award to receive $5,000 in prize money.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to vote on which presenter should receive the People’s Choice Award, who will take home $5,000 in prize money.

In 2021, which was held virtually, Kirk Petroski of Symboticware, a tech company with applications in the mining sector, was declared the Judges’ Choice Award winner, taking home $5,000 in prize money and in-kind business services.

Stéphane Lanteigne from Grostack, which makes a vertical growing system for indoor farming, was named the People’s Choice Award winner and took home $5,000 in prize money.

This year, the event will return to an in-person format, although event capacity is currently limited to 50 per cent, and masks must be worn at all times unless actively eating or drinking.

Registration for the event is now open.
