One-day business conference coming to Sudbury this fall

Entrepreneurs and business owners are being invited to attend a one-day business conference in Sudbury this September.

Venture North 2022, scheduled to take place on Sept. 22 at Science North, is being cohosted by Northern Ontario Angels (NOA) and the City of Greater Sudbury.

Among the events, the full-day conference will include seminars led by financial experts, fireside chats, networking opportunities, and a power pitch session.

Manjit Minhas, a judge on the CBC TV show Dragons’ Den, will appear as the event’s keynote speaker.

Minhas is the co-owner and CEO of Minhas Brewery and Distillery, the 10th largest brewery in the world, which earned in excess of $220 million last year.

The Calgary, AB-based entrepreneur will speak to her perspective as a woman thriving in a male-dominated field and share her lessons of success.

Established in 2009, Northern Ontario Angels is a not-for-profit organization that connects entrepreneurs to angel investors in Northern Ontario.

To date, NOA has closed 416 deals, of which 31 are Indigenous-led companies, resulting in more than $183.4 million in private angel investments and the creation of 5,000 full-time jobs.

In 2019, NOA was named the top angel-investing firm in North America, according to the Angel Capital Association.
