Worker injured at Glencore’s Fraser Mine on June 27

Company says it is supporting ongoing support to employee as they recover

Glencore INO said a worker was injured June 27 at its Fraser Mine site.

A worker was injured June 27 at Glencore’s Fraser Mine in Sudbury.

The company said in an email a critical injury occurred to a millwright on day shift while performing shutdown maintenance. The company did not provide details on how the worker was injured.

The employee received immediate treatment and is now receiving care.

“We are providing ongoing support to the employee and his family,” said a Glencore spokesperson in a news release.

Authorities were notified and were on scene the same day. 

“We are committed to a thorough investigation, in co-ordination with the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and the information gathered from this investigation will help our team to understand the root cause of the incident to prevent future incidents from occurring.”
