Vancouver company reports emerald find in North (7/03)

True North Gems, a Vancouver-based exploration company, reports their Ghost Lake property near Dryden in northwestern Ontario has the potential for gem-quality emeralds. It may be the second potential emerald occurrence in Canada.

True North Gems, a Vancouver-based exploration company, reports their Ghost Lake property near Dryden in northwestern Ontario has the potential for gem-quality emeralds.

It may be the second potential emerald occurrence in Canada.

The company extracted a 500-kilogram sample from a mineralized emerald exposure zone resulting in several gem and near-gem emeralds being observed. True North expects to determine the chromium content of the emeralds found, which should add to their potentially high gem quality.

In a news release, the company says the exposure on the Ghost Lake property measures 40 metres by 25 metres with another outcrop of similar rock type observed 100 to 125 metres along the strike.

They intend to complete an exploration program, including geochemistry, trenching and gem analysis on the property later this year to determine the extent of mineralization.

True North is optioning 100 per cent interest in the 288-hectare property adding to their emerald property, their Regal Ridge emerald discovery in the Yukon.
