Vale's Sudbury Operations is currently looking for trades students from either Collège Boréal or Cambrian College – Sudbury's two colleges – to fill co-op spots for the summer of 2020.

A total of 80 different maintenance co-op spots are available in the following trades:

  • Electrical
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
  • Millwright
  • Power Line
  • Power Engineer
  • Instrumentation Technologist

Vale will also be inviting all eligible 2019 co-op students back for a second placement next year.

The company's co-op placements are usually for two consecutive summers (subject to satisfactory performance and annual hiring approval process) and these positions could lead to a full-time apprenticeship.

“These maintenance roles are in high demand,” said Viviane Ajub, manager of human resources for Vale’s Ontario Operations, in a Dec. 13 news release.

“With new mining projects coming online and upcoming retirements, we’re going to need hundreds of these roles filled in the very near future.”

Candidates must be in their first year of a two-year program or their second year of a three-year program at Collège Boréal or Cambrian College.

In addition, there are separate GPA requirements, and students must receive a positive professor evaluation and apply for the position online at www.valejobs.ca

Co-op placements run from June 2 to Aug. 28, 2020.
