Mining Transformed, a large-scale technology exhibition held at the NORCAT Underground Centre, will return for a second iteration May 28 to 29, 2024.

First held in September 2022, the two-day event — described as the world’s first large-scale technology exhibition in an underground mine — showcases emerging technologies that are aimed at improving safety, productivity and efficiency in the mining industry.

The event brings together technology innovators with buyers in a kind of matchmaking event where they can see product demonstrations at NORCAT’S underground mine, learn about new technologies, and conduct business.

Forty-six exhibitors — many of them based in the North — appeared at the 2022 event.

Outcomes were promising.

According to survey results following the event, 100 per cent of mining executives said the NORCAT Underground Centre “provided an environment that enhanced or improved the probability of the mining company to procure, adopt, and deploy a technology viewed on site.”

As well, 75 per cent of technology companies generated more than three meaningful sales leads as a result of demonstrating at an underground mine.
