Mining industry stakeholders from across the North will gather in Thunder Bay this fall for the 2025 Central Canada (Cen-Can) Resource Expo.
Taking place Sept. 10-11, the event brings together delegates from the mining and energy sectors for two days of presentations, a job fair, a tradeshow with more than 300 exhibits, and networking opportunities.
The event kicks off on Sept. 9 with a gala dinner and awards ceremony, which recognizes people and companies for their contributions to the mining industry.
Proceeds raised from the dinner will go to the CIM Thunder Bay branch to support undergraduate students in geology and mining. In 2024, the dinner raised $10,000 toward this cause.
Highlights of the two-day expo include a jackleg drilling competition, an Indigenous forum focused on Indigenous resource development projects, and Projects in the Pipeline, an overview of leading and emerging Canadian minerals projects.
Speakers include Derek Teevan, vice-president of community and development at West Red Lake Gold Mines; George Pirie, minister of northern economic development and growth; and Priya Tandon, president of the Ontario Mining Association.
Registration for the event is now open.
