Porcupine mines symposium slated for Oct. 1

Rob McEwen, executive chair and chief owner of McEwen Mining, will be the featured speaker during an Oct. 1 talk at the Northeastern Ontario Mines & Minerals Symposium in Timmins.

The Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association (PPDA) will host the 2019 Northeastern Ontario Mines & Minerals Symposium in Timmins this coming Oct. 1-2. This year’s theme is “To 2020 and Beyond.”

The symposium features a tradeshow highlighting mining and exploration activities and service providers, talks on a variety of exploration and development-related topics in the region, a series of workshops, and field trips.

During the dinner on Oct. 1, participants will hear from featured speaker Rob McEwen, executive chair of McEwen Mining.

In Northern Ontario, McEwen Mining owns and operates the Black Fox complex in Black River-Matheson, just east of Timmins, which is comprised of the Black Fox Mine, and the Froome, Grey Fox and Tamarack deposits, along with the Stock Mill and the former Stock Mine.

There will also be a MERC/Metal Earth short course scheduled for Oct. 3.
