The fifth annual Northern Ontario Mining Showcase has expanded once again and will now host 110 Northern Ontario mining supply and service companies from across the region in the largest exhibit at the 2019 conference of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).

Taking place March 3-6 in Toronto, PDAC is one of the largest annual international mining conference and tradeshows of its kind in the world.

The City of Temiskaming Shores is leading the project in partnership with the communities of Cochrane and Hearst.

“Temiskaming Shores is proud to lead the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase initiative to help create new opportunities for Northern Ontario communities and businesses,” said Carman Kidd, mayor of the City of Temiskaming Shores, in a Feb. 28 news release.

“I am thrilled that FedNor recognizes the importance of this project to ensure the success of our region.”

The project receives strong support from FedNor, which is helping Northern mining supply and service companies to expand their operations, create jobs and increase trade both domestically and internationally.

“Northern Ontario is a recognized global leader in mining excellence and I’m proud that our government is investing to help strengthen and grow this key sector of our economy,” Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre said in the release.

“I look forward to the positive results the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase will deliver for participating firms, Northern Ontario and indeed, all Canadians.”

Following the 2018 edition of the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase, small and medium enterprises created 179 new jobs, created 158 new partnerships, and produced more than $30.6 million in sales.

“By investing in the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase, the Government of Canada is helping businesses expand, increase trade and create high-quality middle-class job that will benefit the economy, families and communities throughout the region Nickel belt MP Marc Serré said.

“I am confident this strategic investment will further position our region as one of the premier mining jurisdictions in world.

The collaborative partnership of communities and organizations involved will connect attendees from over 120 countries to 110 plus mining and supply service companies from Northern Ontario.

The synergy established from previous conventions will captivate 2019 attendees, setting up this year’s Northern Ontario Mining Showcase to surpass previous years in participants, attendees, as well as sales and exports.
