Mining marketing program graduating Northerners

Employees of 21 Northern Ontario companies have completed the Strategic Export Marketing Program , a component of the Mining Supply and Services Export Assistance Program .

Employees of 21 Northern Ontario companies have completed the Strategic Export Marketing Program, a component of the Mining Supply and Services Export Assistance Program.

The program offers placements to employees of Northern Ontario companies who work in the mining supply and services industry. Graduates work directly with international export development advisors to develop hands-on experience as well as a range of marketing tools and strategies to help access international markets.

The program, which was created in 2011, has received $4 million in funding from the province and has been extended for an additional two years. It’s helped achieve short-term export sales of more than $48 million, with long-term prospects for an additional $350 million, creating more than 150 new jobs.

Northern Ontario’s mining supply and services sector consists of more than 500 companies, employs more than 23,000 Northerners, and produces supplies and services worth $5.6 billion annually.
