Sudbury's Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) is leading a delegation to Peru this fall, making way for Canadian tech companies to strike new partnerships within that country's mining industry.
The Canada–Peru Mining Innovation Summit is slated to take place Oct. 22-23, 2025, in the country's capital, Lima, in conjunction with Hub de Innovación Minera del Perú (HIMP), a national mining innovation association.
It's MICA's second international innovation summit, following a Canada–Chile Summit held last October.
MICA said the event is part of a greater effort to boost collaboration between the two countries in the lead-up to the signing of a bilateral memorandum of understanding that will take place at PERUMIN 2025, a mining convention slated for September.
Summit participants will include Canadian businesses, technology providers, Peruvian mining companies, integrators, research institutions, and government agencies to explore collaboration and business opportunities, MICA said.
Delegates chosen to participate will have pre-arranged meetings with potential Peruvian partners and an opportunity to showcase their tech through pitch presentations. The event is expected to provide insight into Peru's mining innovation needs and enable delegates to establish partnerships for market expansion.
Canadian companies are encouraged to complete and submit an expression of interest by Sept. 5; only 25 will be accepted. More information is available by emailing Alain Thivierge at athivierge@cemi.ca.
Led by Sudbury's Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI), MICA is a pan-Canadian network of mining companies, industrial suppliers, academic organizations and researchers, and innovators whose goal is to speed up commercialization of relevant technologies in the mining industry.
