An inquest will be held next month into the 2017 death of a contractor who died at Vale’s Copper Cliff refinery in Sudbury.
Dr. Harry Voogjarv, the regional supervising coroner for the North Region, announced today that June 13 is the start date for the inquest into the death of Ronald Charles Lepage. It will be held at the Sudbury Courthouse.
Lepage, 59, died in hospital on April 6, 2017, from injuries sustained while operating a dump truck at the refinery. He was an employee at Cecchetto and Sons.
The inquest was originally called for back in April 2019 by Dr. David Cameron, regional supervising coroner for inquests.
Expected to last four days with ten witnesses scheduled to appear, the inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Lepage's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.
Dr. Geoffrey Bond will be the presiding officer. Mathieu Ansell and Manon Arbour will be inquest counsel.
